Toronto warns of parking ticket scam

The City of Toronto is warning about a scam in which someone is posing as an official and requesting payment for a parking violation.

In a tweet the city advised anyone who has received a similar text not to click on any links.

"If you receive a text message from the [city] asking you to pay parking or speeding tickets, no not click on any links," they said.

"Under no circumstances does the city send text messages for these violations."

A photo of a sample text reads, "You have a City of Toronto parking ticket that must be completed [sic] by 12-18-2022 to avoid suspension, you will receive [sic] details within one hour."
