With 2023 officially being the worst wildfire season in Canada's history, the federal government warns that the risk of wildfires will remain very high throughout the country for the remainder of the summer.
"Drought conditions, coupled with above-normal temperatures across most of the country, mean that the risk of fire activity will remain very high for much of the summer," said Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair during a press conference on Thursday.
"Apparently, 2023 now has the unfortunate distinction of being the worst recorded wildfire season in Canada."
