Violent vehicle theft

It was captured on video the moment two men violently stripped a woman of her vehicle.

This happened yesterday in the parking lot of a supermarket in Milton and Halton Police have released the footage.

The video shows two suspects smashing the driver's side window of the Honda CRV before forcibly removing a woman who was sitting in the driver's seat.

The suspects then throw the woman to the ground and flee the scene in the CRV.

Police reported the victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police say.

The two suspects were driving a stolen white pickup truck that was previously involved in two hit-and-run crashes, police said.

According to police, the van entered the Metro parking lot and struck a parked Honda CRV.

"This is a shocking and violent crime that puts the lives of many Milton residents at risk. We are devoting all available resources and will relentlessly pursue those responsible and hold them accountable," 1 District Superintendent. said Dave Stewart in a press release.

In the press release issued Wednesday, Halton police said they are aware of a video and are investigating.

Police also shed more light on what happened in the moments before the car was stolen.

Authorities said the stolen white van was initially seen weaving in and out of traffic near Derry Road and Holly Avenue in Milton about 10 minutes before the car was stolen.

Investigators said the same vehicle was seen on "several occasions" driving erratically throughout Milton. This white pickup truck, identified as a 2014 Ford F250, was reported stolen in Peel Region on Jan. 7.
